Sources claim that the model number of the phone would be SM-G780 (global) and SM-G781 (United States). Reports say that SM-G780 would be available in 4G and 5G versions whereas SM-G781 would be available only in the 5G version. The exact details about the phone are still not yet out hence we have to keep our fingers crossed to exactly see what this smartphone will offer.
Outside the US, the Samsung Galaxy S20 series uses the Samsung Exynos 990 SoC and many users are not satisfied with the performance of the Exynos 990. Now Galaxy S20 Lite uses an SD856 SoC, which has a good probability of improving the sales. There are higher chances that many buyers would now be attracted due to this new processor.
Apart from this, Samsung is also working on the Galaxy Watch 3 and the Galaxy BudsX. Both are also expected to be launched soon. This smartwatch has also required some certifications which also includes the BIS certification by which it will also debut in India. Some reports also claim that this new UI will be unveiled during the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20. If that’s the case then we can expect the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition to not be here for a few months as the OneUI 2.5 will not be unveiled any time before August.
If we see the trend, the Samsung Galaxy S10 launched in India at Rs. 66,900 for the 8GB + 128GB option while the Galaxy S10 Lite launched at Rs. 39,999 for the same configuration. So if the Galaxy S20 Lite or Fan Edition follows the same formula, it would be a good alternative to the flagship Galaxy S20.
Yet nothing is officially announced, with some speculated dates coming up. Stay tuned for getting more information about this phone.
